Wu Long or Oolong Tea – The Amazing Fat Burner

Wu Long or Oolong tea is a semi-oxidized tea that combines the best qualities of green tea and black tea. Wu Long Tea is famous for its antiaging benefits, being able to improve immunocompetence and lowering the risk of heart disease.
Polyphenols in Wu Long tea can activate the enzyme that is responsible for dissolving triglyceride. Drinking oolong tea regularly can enhance the function of fat metabolism, thus helping you control your weight. This is why Wu Long tea is marketed as a slimming tea and it has recently gained the reputation of an amazing fat burner. One study reported in ‘Diabetes Care’ involved participants with type 2 diabetes and reported that Wu Long tea had a glycemic effect by significantly reducing blood glucose levels in the patients.
Wu Long tea is graded according to the harvest season, processing and quality of leaves.
The most consistent and stable crops are harvested during summer, thus this tea is of the highest quality. About 75% of the tea produced all over the world is black, 23% is green tea and only 2% is Wu Long. The fermentation process gives this tea its colour.
There are several varieties of oolong tea. AnXi Wu Long tea is a lightly oxidized tea from Anxi district, in the Fujian province of China. Benshan Wu Long Tea also comes from Fujian province. Formosa oolong is grown in Taiwan and is referred to as ‘the champagne of teas’. People from the Fujian province in China crossed the Taiwan Straight in the 18th century, settling on the island of Taiwan, bringing with them the techniques to produce oolong tea. Taiwan offered ideal conditions for growing tea and today some of the finest Wu Long tea comes from Taiwan.
